This isn't possible at the moment Cory. From our experience we do not believe URL format plays any significant role in ranking. I think in some cases it can help visitors remember the address of a specific page, however with Q&A (unlike a blog post with a short title) the URL can quickly become very long, for instance the url for this page would become: Help.qhub.com/Can_you_edit_the_way_the_question_URL's_display_for_SEO_purpo ses?_Or_is_this_in_the_plans_at_all?
Would love the same feature for our Qhub.
And it pays a rather
significant role in my test and is the
One of the overlooked advantages is
that it actually increases the click-through rate on a search-result,
given the positions are the same.
If someone searched for "
display SEO url on qhub"
The actual link in the Serps would be
displayed as :
Help.qhub.com/Can_you_edit_the_way_the_question_UR L's_display_for_SEO_purpo
ses
inside the serps. Does draw more attention to a certain results.
The length is not a valid argument IMO. The URL lengths can always be trimmed to a health amount, as a few keywords are always better than no keywords.
Keep the ID's of questions if you system needs it, but please implement proper URL's.
That's one of the main gripes I have with qhub at the moment.
Oh and another reason:
On our Qhub we have 70 % of our users use either Firefox or Chrome.
When someone starts typing for a search string in his browser bar the autocomplete gives preference to the URL entries over a matching title.
This increases the brand awareness and reminds the user to ask a questions rather on a relevant qhub than than making a google search.
So can we at least have an option to activate url-rewriting if we wish so ?
